Week #7 Recap - Centerville

October 2, 2023

Centerville Recap
Centerville is likely the meet that we attend with the most hype.  It is a fun experience to run at night and be part of a 1400 athlete festival.  We had a lot of guys compete well, even if the times didn't reflect it.  Taking a close look at the details tells a more complete story: within the top 70 finishes in both of the races our boys ran, only 25% of runners ran personal bests.  That is a pretty good indicator that the course wasn't friendly.  There is no sense in beating yourself up over a time that means very little.  Practices start to get lighter in volume this week as we prepare for the end of the season.  However, some plans never change:  injured? work harder.  bad race? work harder.  good race?  you BETTER work harder.

results from Centerville, our boys were in Open 2 and Varsity Gold

Athletes of the Week
Varsity
EJ Schneider- EJ is one of our team captains and a valuable leader.  He has helped the team grow together and become a cohesive group.  EJ has been one of our top runners all season and helped to lead the charge in workouts.  EJ doesn't submit to having bad days, he just gets the job done and in the process, sets a great example for his teammates.

JV
August Foland- August is a great team member.  He is always positive and supportive of his teammates.  August has also made a huge improvement in his racing this season.  He approaches races much more confidently and is ahead of where he was at this point last season.
