Elder Recap
The team competed for a 3 day stretch at Elder last week. Many times this past week, we had to call on athletes to fill in as substitutes due to injuries or other issues. All of the athletes we summoned met the request with a smile, stepped up to the challenge and performed with all their heart. As coaches, we always like to surround ourselves with this kind of person; an athlete who can be depended on.
At the end of the varsity Elder Invite, there was a group of Elder boys chanting some very unsportsmanlike things pointed at Oak Hills. Our two programs have always maintained a good relationship, and this incident was obviously the product of a handful of kids who were a bit clueless. I am pleased to report that our athletes completely ignored them and did not respond in kind. I can easily say that I would proudly be a part of the team at the butt of a joke, so long as my team has the class to rise above such rude, childish behavior. Well met Highlanders.
JV Athletes of the Week
Our Jv athletes who earned recognition this week due to their outstanding performances were Sophia Marsala and Kenny Davis. Congratulations!
Varsity Athletes of the Week
Carissa Sartor- Carissa is a senior who has been one of our top 400m runners for the last 4 years. She has consistently maintained a spot on the varsity 4x400m relay for her entire high school career. At the varsity Elder Invite on Wednesday, Carissa won an individual event for the first time, as she captured first place in the 400m.
Luke Neuhaus- Luke, a regional qualifier in discus as a sophomore, has been taking huge steps his junior year to becoming one of the top throwers in the area. Luke had two personal bests on Wednesday in winning the discus and earning a 3rd place finish in shot put. Luke bested a rival from Elder in his win in discus.

Just kidding. If you are a field event athlete and do not wish to attend the Kings meet on Saturday, please let us know by Monday so we can make accurate entries.
